Relaxation Delivered To Your Doorstep with Urban Massage

Do you ever have those days where you just wish you could magic up whatever your heart desired? Great food, some sun, the body of your dreams….well, this week I was lucky enough to magic up a massage straight to my front room. Thanks to a company called Urban Massage, my wish was their command!

To be honest, I was a bit dubious about the concept at first; the idea of having a stranger come into your home to get up close and personal is a bit alien (I know I know, you don't meet them before you go in for treatments either - but this is the way my mind works ok?!), and my other hangup was about knowing my own environment and not expecting to be able to relax in the same way, but I was actually pleasantly surprised.

My therapist, Nina, bought round everything needed, from the massage table, to the music, a bowl of oils (I just need to boil some hot water to release it into the room) and the massage oils obviously. All you have to provide is the towel. What I quickly learnt was when you're face down on the massage table, you are actually none the wiser about where you are - and that in itself was a relief!

Friendly and professional, Nina was appointed to me once I'd selected the type of masseuse (male or female) and massage I was after. When she arrived, Nina asked where she should set up and got me to dim the lights, and light some candles. As she was setting up she also explained that (like me) many people can be nervous about having a massage in their own home, but that Urban Massage screen and check all their therapists so you can rest easy.

When it came to selecting my massage, there were 10 options available; from Sports, to Thai, and Swedish, but for a change, I opted for the Energising one. A strange choice for 7:30pm perhaps, but I wanted to try something different and I have been feeling a little lacklustre lately. Now truth be told the Energising massage was not too dissimilar to a Swedish massage, just a bit more firm and targeted. The bit I noticed most difference on was my thighs, where Nina was wiggling and jiggling, then prodding my cellulite areas. A bit of a strange sensation - but hey if it helps get rid of it, I'm all for it.

By the end of the hour, I was more tired than energised but I was definitely relaxed, and rather sleepy, so it was ideal to be right at home. Nina packed up at ninja quick speed and was gone within a matter of minutes after the session ended, leaving me to flop onto the sofa in no more than a few steps.

For £65 for an hour, it's no cheaper than going to a mid-range spa, but I would say that the convenience and experience was worth it. After all, that's one of the benefits of living in the city right,  a massage up until 10pm! So yes I'd use them again the next time I felt at a bit of a lose end and wanted to have the weight of the world rubbed from my shoulders!
