Let's get social

I've been home alone all week. Dan upped sticks to go Snowbombing (which sounds awesome and I'm not at all jealous to be left behind). So I've been able to do as I like, when I like and it's been brilliant.

And what I really wanted to do with all my free time was really focus on my blog, including sorting out the look; like what I've done with the place? It's a small change but as I get more and more into this blogging malarky, I'm beginning to identify what I like and how I want things done.

It was really important for me to sort out my social media icons. I didn't want the blue standard ones, I wanted something a bit different, and I've been loving orange and grey colour schemes recently, so really wanted to decorate my Internet home the same way.

So I began trawling through Pinterest looking for icons that were in colours I could use and were just a bit funky really. And then I found these. I 'eeeeked' like a mouse when I found these little beauties, available in any colour you could possibly want - hello burnt orange! #winning.

I clicked on the link and it took me through to Kristin's Craftiments site. What a gem! Kristin totally takes you through the steps to downloading her icons and how to install them. I set up my PhotoBucket account to save the images and with the simple tutorial on Kristin's site, I was up and running in no time. Well, not no time, about an hour really, but only because it took a bit of time to find my feet.

I did deviate a little from the tutorial too. The HTML code provided says to set parameters of the size of icon you want, but I was able to set them on PhotoBucket before hand which made it easier and I just deleted the latter part of the coding. It took some trial to find out what size worked best but eventually settled on  47 x 47 so that I could fit several in a line and I think they've turned out great. Happy days!

Then it was time to shake up my blog. Sort out my colour scheme once and for all and register to Bloglovin'. For anyone that doesn't know what Bloglovin' is, it's a hub of all the best blogs on the tinter web and it's brilliant. I've been a reader for ages but now I'm a member of the Bloglovin gang! Check me out here

All in all, when the boy is away, I end up playing with my new love. But let's just keep that a secret between you and I.
