My month in pictures - December 2014

Eek, the end of the year, and the end of December. How did this happen? Christmas goes too fast, no matter how hard you try to enjoy every second.

Last year it felt like it zoomed by so I thought I'd soak in as much as possible. So, here's a look back at everything I got up to this month, including Christmas, of course. This is why it's the most wonderful time of year - copious amounts of food, silliness and quality family time.

A trip down Borough Market at Christmas

When three friends meet up four days before Christmas, and the only pre-requisite is it must be to do something Christmassy, Borough Market is a great shout!

Did someone say it's nearly Christmas?

There is only one way of getting yourself in the festive spirit; by whole-heartedly submerging yourself in all the seasonal fun, festivities and total overindulgence.
I took a massive lesson from last year when Christmas almost seemed to pass me by as there was so much going on in the lead up. So this year I was determined to keep my eyes wide open to it all and enjoy every second.

When you're looking for a chilled out evening with friends, B-Soho is a great little spot. Especially Thurs - Sat when they have live music too.

My month in pictures - November 2014

It's crazy how quick the end of the year is approaching. In some ways November has felt like it's flown by, as the start of the month was so busy, with an impromptu trip to the wrestling, seeing my girls and going on a few nights out, but then the end has been so busy at work I feel so exhausted and time has begun to drag.

Anyhow, here's a snap shot of what I've been up to in the penultimate month of 2014.

Brunch at the Wet Fish, West Hampstead

This is a short and sweet one but I met some of the girls early this week for a bit of brunch and had such a delicious meal that I only managed to take a few snaps before we tucked straight in.

Choc Chip Cookies

A Sunday night tucked up in front of the TV with some freshly baked cookies. Just what the doctor ordered.

Unable to sleep

More and more recently I'm having nights where I can't sleep. I go to bed feeling reasonably tired, eyes heavy, but as soon as the noise and buzz of daily life quietens, my mind comes alive.

Workout motivation for when the going gets tough

I work out to make myself feel good. It calms my mood which can often be tense and its a great way of getting rid of some of my pent up frustrations about being unable to achieve the 101 things I unrealistically set myself to do on a daily basis.

The time for travel

Since I've been back off holiday my mind has been constantly wandering to the next destination. I've made lists upon lists of everywhere I want, some feasible, some not so.

My month in pictures - October 2014

It's finally the end of October. Not that I'm wishing the time away, but that felt like a long month, and like I was crawling towards pay day forever! It has been one of the most jam-packed months I've had in a while though. It feels crazy only a few weeks ago we were in Greece, it feels like months ago. Anyway, here's me, doing me this month.

Better than Charlie's chocolate shop

If Charlie ever got bored of the chocolate factory and wanted to visit a good chocolate shop instead, he should have tried this hidden gem just off Brick Lane.

Burger it

I love a good burger.

They are part of the perfect formula to a lazy long lunch. So, when Dan started to get antsy after I'd dragged him round one to many shops at Westfield, we plonked ourselves down at Byron.

Falling in love with Greece - part two

As with most love stories, all came good in the end and after our two days of wet and grey, the clouds parted to reveal beautiful, hot sunshine which made us a very happy couple.

Falling in love with Greece - part one

OK, I have to admit I am unashamedly, completely and totally in love with Greece. Halkidiki to be precise. I have just experienced a whirl-wind love affair and I am already missing it like a teenage summer love.

A social affair, with olives

What's better than a good catch up with friends, delicious food and an unlimited supply of wine? Very little! And that's exactly what fun and games I got up to this week courtesy of my friend Jem.

My month in pictures - September 2014

September has definitely been a 'catch-up' month. We took a trip to Wales to celebrate my aunts 50th, saw friends and have also made a lot of headway with several blogging bits which made me super happy.

Plus, I spent ages on Pinterest looking up really cute pictures of small animals, hence the micro pig on the strawberry… it doesn't make sense, it just made me laugh!

Week from hell, weekend from heaven

You know when you have one of those weeks. The ones where you're constantly tired, can't seem to fit enough in the day and as a result your 'resting face' is as bad as grumpy cats.

Mon 'Sherry'…Chicken

With the nights starting to get that bit cooler I have really started to yearn for something warm and comforting for dinner and going through one of mum's old recipe books, I came across a great little find that tantalised my taste buds.

My month in pictures - August 2014

Anyway, here's a snap shot of my month, filled with friends, food and everything in between. Happy Sunday!

Wedding Season

If August had to be summarised in one word, it would be weddings. There has been four this month and even though we couldn't make it to all of them due to clashes it has been so much fun joining in on our friends' special days.

So raise your glass with me to the happy couples.

Witness the fitness

OK, I totally need to update you guys on my fitness progress.

For those of you that don't know, at the start of the year I decided to take my workouts a bit more seriously. My goal was to train properly, harder, more frequently and ultimately to see results. I set myself two objectives to help me reach the target I had in mind and hit the first one in Feb so treated myself to some new kicks.

Five months on and its taken me ages to reach my second goal, or much longer than I'd have hoped anyway, but I'm so happy that I've now totally smashed it. I went away on holiday and I have no idea whether it was the lack of stress, the switch up to my workout routine or the change of diet but I came back tanned, lighter and with a much flatter stomach. It must be true what they say about the French ladies diets and even better, I've been able to lose even more in the month following.

The truth is, from when I started this little journey, which has now turned into a slight obsession, I've lost over a stone and a half in weight and over 27 inches from my body. It goes without saying that I am made up about it! I can finally see results and I feel lighter, healthier, fitter, my clothes feel better and I definitely look a lot better naked! The one thing I didn't really expect though (prepare for an over-share) is that my boobs would shrink so much. I mean they are still there but just smaller. And as a plus, they have evened out a bit; it's a running joke amongst my friends at the size difference I had from one boob to the other! Every cloud and all that!

Anyway, my treat for reaching this next goal was to treat myself to something special and as Dan and I have some time off in October, we booked a nice week long holiday to Halkidiki. The weather will still be warm (fingers crossed the weather predictor stays accurate) and it will be so nice to just get away and spend some time together. We feel like we're always so busy at the moment that we actually don't get that much time to just 'be', so I can't wait. The other great thing is that I'm no longer going to be worried about not feeling good in my bikini.

Roll on October!

It's not often you go away from the UK and leave better weather behind you, especially when you're heading to the south of France. But that's exactly what happened when we set off the weekend before last to a place called Gasques, which is about an hour outside of Toulouse.

Snappy Happy Birthday

I'm so excited, I have to share my new toy with you. I got a happy snappy little treat from Dan for my birthday and it was love at first sight. The object of my affection; the Sony DSC-RX100. Compact, sleek and in my amateur but lust filled opinion, the dogs b*llocks.

June is always a month that flies by. The sun comes out, the days get longer and we start having much more fun. So here's a snapshot of some of the things I got up to. Some healthy eating and not so healthy eating, dancing with mum, silly selfies and a night at the Royal Albert Hall to watch a live orchestra accompaniment to Star Trek.

School of Life

Do you ever have times when it seems like everyone else has the answers you're still busy searching for? Like you're always one step behind? Well a friend and I had been feeling a bit like that recently so we set off in search of answers. And, where better to start the search than The School of Life?

Thai night in

Sometimes there is nothing better than a night in with the girls. It's the perfect antidote for when you're just having one of those weeks and just need to let your hair down and laugh your ass off. Well, that was me recently and this is my recipe for success on a Saturday night; it's the perfect mix of homemade Green Thai Curry, bubbles, dressing up and jumping on the bed.

Pizza at the Piazza

OK. You know those memories you have that you just wish you could relive over and over?

Mine is four years ago last January when Dan and I went to Venice. It was freezing cold, I'm talking wearing tights under jeans cold and feeling that bliss of warm air every time we stepped inside a coffee shop. The trip was to celebrate our second anniversary despite having hardly any money to our names, and it was one of the best experiences ever.

DIY…Nobody Else Will

Spring is one of my favourite times of the year. Well, to be honest I like each season for different reasons but I love the 'dusting off the cobwebs' feeling that comes with spring. I start rooting around in the top of my wardrobe, peeling out last summers clothes and brightening up the flat with loads of flowers and a bit more 'white'.

Liebster Award Tag and Nominate

So the lovely Hannah at That Girl From Norfolk nominated me for the Liebster award which I'm really grateful for. Now I must confess this wasn't an award I knew much (anything) about, but it's an 'award' in the loosest sense, more like a tag for bloggers with 200 followers or less to help get to know other bloggers and get a bit of recognition. It's a great idea to help encourage a bit more traction on smaller blogs and get us newbies chatting and interacting.

Good Burgers mean a Good Friday

Good Friday wouldn't be great without one very important thing. A nice lie in, good breakfast and a big, fat juicy burger. OK, that's way more than one thing, and the burger is completely optional, but as a personal preference they are all equally important and necessary to a very good day. And Dan having a rare bank holiday off work meant all were possible. Happy days!

Let's get social

I've been home alone all week. Dan upped sticks to go Snowbombing (which sounds awesome and I'm not at all jealous to be left behind). So I've been able to do as I like, when I like and it's been brilliant.

And what I really wanted to do with all my free time was really focus on my blog, including sorting out the look; like what I've done with the place? It's a small change but as I get more and more into this blogging malarky, I'm beginning to identify what I like and how I want things done.

It was really important for me to sort out my social media icons. I didn't want the blue standard ones, I wanted something a bit different, and I've been loving orange and grey colour schemes recently, so really wanted to decorate my Internet home the same way.

So I began trawling through Pinterest looking for icons that were in colours I could use and were just a bit funky really. And then I found these. I 'eeeeked' like a mouse when I found these little beauties, available in any colour you could possibly want - hello burnt orange! #winning.

London in the Spring

I love the UK in the spring. There is such a great, happy vibe with everyone feeling the same weightlessness of not having to wear their winter coats and positive effects of vitamin D on the skin. It's gorgeous. And in London, there is nothing better than heading out to bask in the sun whilst visiting a market or two. For me, the first stop on the 2014 tour of London markets took me to Columbia Road to pick up some pretty and colourful flowers to brighten up the flat.
