Liebster Award Tag and Nominate
So the lovely Hannah at That Girl From Norfolk nominated me for the Liebster award which I'm really grateful for. Now I must confess this wasn't an award I knew much (anything) about, but it's an 'award' in the loosest sense, more like a tag for bloggers with 200 followers or less to help get to know other bloggers and get a bit of recognition. It's a great idea to help encourage a bit more traction on smaller blogs and get us newbies chatting and interacting.
The way it works (thanks for all the info Hannah) is the person that nominates you asks you 11 questions, you answer them, tag back and then set your own 11 questions, and nominate 11 blogs with under 200 followers. A bit like a chain letter of sorts I guess. Simples huh? Well here's mine:
Why did you start blogging?
It'd been on my 'things I want to do' list for ages but I had that nervous apprehension about actually putting myself out there for the world to see. But then 2014 hit, I told myself to suck it up and just bite the bullet and that's exactly what I did. I wrote my first blog post on 14th January 2014 and haven't looked back since.
What is your favourite movie?
Tough one - if it had to be a one off, it would be Love and Basketball. A film I first watched and fell in love with in the States when I was 11, and one of those that I can just pick up and watch anytime. It never gets old to me. When it comes to a series though, Fast & Furious gets my vote. I love the action, the stunts and cars, plus Paul Walker was my dream guy too - R.I.P you gorgeous man!
Do you have any pets?
I wish! I live in a top floor flat with Dan, so as much as I'd love to have a kitten/cat no can do. My parents have a kitten that I bought them for Christmas though. He's fab and not to mention an adventurous little bugger.
What is one thing you can't leave the house without?
My wallet. It's the only one thing I must, must, must have. You never know what will catch your eye whether you're just popping into your local town or to the gym.
Favourite item of clothing?
That is a toughie! But if push came to shove I'd have to say my flapper dress from French Connection. It's not one I have been able to fit into for a while but it is my Carrie Bradshaw dress. You know the episode where she meets Aleksandr Petrovsky and she's wearing that silver flapper number, well mine is just like that dress, but its black.
Do you have a significant other?
Yep I do, his names Dan and we've been together over six years. We met at uni in my first year but it took us a year to get together. Now here comes the cheesy bit - promise not to laugh? We met because he was the uni American Football team captain and I was part of the cheerleading squad.
What is your favourite quote?
This above all, to thine own self be true. It's a quote from Shakespeare's Hamlet and I like and believe in it so much that I have a tattoo of it on my right wrist.
Describe yourself in 3 words.
Tenacious, when it comes to going after what I want, feisty, which can get me into trouble sometimes and loyal.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Scary thought, I think when you get the wrong side of 25 you start thinking in 5 years gaps. In 10 years I'll nearly be 37 and hopefully I'll be married, with kid(s), and own my own house. Main thing I want is to be successful and happy.
What's your favourite instagram account?
Love looking at Lauren Conrads instagram, it's inspirational and has lots of things that I'm interested in - that girl has done very well for herself
Gold or silver?
Gold. I'm mixed race, it goes much better with my skin
