Breakfast Treats At Muriel's Kitchen

As far as I'm concerned, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and when someone says 'let's meet for breakfast'; there is nothing that would stop me, and we ended up at Muriel's Kitchen in Soho.

If you haven't been to Muriel's before, they are a chain of four dotted about London and have tried to replicate that 'sat in your mother's country style kitchen with some home cooked organic food', type vibe.

And it works, walking inside you instantly feel the cosiness that may remind some of home and the restaurant is a mix of chair swings (not great to sit in if you're eating), sofa's, (again pretty low to actually eat at) and intimate tables.

We arrived about 11:30, in time to order breakfast which finishes at midday, not that I think it'd have mattered much as their brunch menu looked just as good and had many of the same dishes. Naturally, after being introduced to the wonder of pancakes by Rach about a year ago, I opted for blueberry pancakes, with a side of yogurt and maple syrup, and Chlo had the Champions breakfast, poached eggs and avocado on toast, with a side of smoked salmon.

If I wasn't such a regular poached egg eater I'd def have given this a go too, the eggs were all runny when cut into and the salmon was freshly smoked and flaked which is my favourite, although for me, the dish could have done with a squeeze or lemon or lime.

My pancakes were delicious! Also surprisingly filling, having ones with wheat in versus gluten free alternatives does really make a difference in how they fill you up, so much so, I couldn't even finish my dish, which as anyone close to me will tell you, rarely happens. They were so full and fluffy and the perfect start to a day of shopping.

I don't really have a regular breakfast haunt, but if I did - this could well be up there with the sort of place I'd choose, easy, good choice, serves alcohol from 11am if it's one of those mornings....what else could you need.
