A Sunny Afternoon Back Home

Sometimes it's nice to get out of London for a bit and this weekend, with the weather being great, I heading home for a barbecue and some family time to recharge the batteries.

Heading home is always nice, not only do I get to breathe unpolluted air for a while but its like a rebalancing of the soul, catching up with my parents and spending the afternoon nattering away. I love my family home, we live in a small town about 25 minutes outside of Bath and it's a really pretty part of the country. We moved into this house when I was 6, having lived round the corner previously. I always remember the day we moved, friends and family turned up and we were all walking furniture from one house to another, like a trail of ants transporting goods back home. Over the years my mum (and dad under direction) have totally decked it out in their own style and it's definitely a gorgeous place with some really interesting and quirky knickknacks found over the years.

The garden is a bit of a sun trap and mum's put so much effort into it in the last year, it's such a tranquil and relaxing place to sit out and drink a glass of wine (or three). So that's exactly what we did. As the weather was so great, mum and I spent a long while sat out in the sun chatting though everything that's been going on for the last few months whilst also being highly entertained by the cat (Arnie or Archie depending on who you ask!) who was very much staving to be centre of attention.

With the drinks flowing it wasn't long before food followed and dad got out the barbecue and began cooking up a feast. Ribs, sausages, steaks, it was all going on, along with new potatoes and salad. It was just what the doctor ordered and was demolished almost as soon as the food was put down.

I love barbecue food, that charcoal, slightly burnt taste, is one of my favourites and I don't think ribs ever taste as good as when done on a barbecue. Mmmm, burnt glaze….

After eating I took my camera for a bit of a tour downstairs, every time I go home there is always something I've never seen before.

I hope you enjoyed the tour! I'm in the process of trying to change mine and Dan's place at the moment, when I do I'll invite you in for a look too.
