Why It's Important to Make Your Own Success

I've learnt something recently which I want to share with you guys, it's OK to say what you want and work with people to make it happen. There have been a lot of instances, both professionally and personally where I've witnessed people sitting back hoping people will realise what they want, and getting frustrated when they don't, but it's time to stop.

It's time for action, if there is something you want, you need to stop waiting for people to second guess, because they may never get it. Everyone's got their own stuff going on, so make the moves necessary to make it happen for yourself, ask for help from those you need it from and make your dreams a reality.

Whether it's a new challenge at work, the chance to prove yourself in some way, or something in your personal life you want to achieve, we all need to make our own dreams and goals come true, after all if you wait for someone else to take the lead for you, you'll be waiting an awfully long time. Nobody else will have the drive and determination to see you succeed as you do, and quite frankly nor should they! It's your life and you should be in charge of the direction you take it in. If you're not prepared to make the moves yourself, you can't complain about your situation. You have to hold yourself accountable for your own success.

The best piece of advice I've been given on this is to stay quiet and focused about your goals and work to ensure that you achieve them. That doesn't mean not talking about them to anyone, sometimes talking about it to those that will help you achieve and who will support you is a good thing. But running your mouth to anyone who will listen is definitely not. It's about less talk, more action my friends.

Talking too much about what you want can often lead to you coming across people that try and hold you back too, that will make those small sceptical remarks when you try something new, or constantly ask if you think the risk is worth it. Anyone that puts doubt in your way, isn't someone you want on your team. Considering options and outcomes yes, but it's all about pushing forward.

That being said, if you want to make moves and succeed you need to have a plan. A plan of what you want, how you're going to get there and what you need to do to begin and maintain your journey. Chances are it won't be easy, nothing worth chasing ever is, but this is when the will power comes in. If you really want it, you need to bed in and work to get it done, no excuses!

I've got a list of things I'm going to be looking to achieve this year and I'm currently planning how I'm going to achieve them, mapping out what and who is going to help me get there. It's actually a really liberating when you inspire yourself and make a plan that you know will help you get there, I'd encourage everyone to do it! Go and chase your dreams. It'll be worth it!
