Lunch in the Ivy Cafe, Marylebone

Do you ever sit there wondering where to go for a girls birthday lunch, or dinner spot? Well if you've got a bit of cash to splash and you want spend it on a simple or well executed food, then you should check out the Ivy Cafe, Marylebone.

Just off Bond Street, the Ivy Cafe is tucked down the side streets on Marylebone Lane, it's this great little restaurant, split over two floors and with a small amount of seating outside. We went for Zee's birthday lunch, and whilst we waited for the rest of them to arrive Zee and I sat at the bar, caught up and enjoyed people watching in the process.

The place was buzzing with noise and laughter and was really nice to be apart of, then when a few more of the group arrived we were seated in a table the middle of the room.

The only thing I'd say about where we were sat is that there were lots of waiting staff always walking past but not necessarily focusing on us. It took us a while to be able to order a drink, but when we did the wine was kept chilled in a wine bottle on the edge of the room and topped up regularly.

When it came to food, we all chose to line our stomachs for the day ahead. The menu is really good and full of British staples that are executed really well.

I opted for Fish & Chips, something I'd never usually go for, but something that totally took my fancy based on Sharna's recommendation having been there previously, and she was right. It was delicious, the fish almost melted in the mouth, with a nice crisp batter and mashed peas. Delicious.

The girls had a mix of Streak Sandwiches, Halloumi Lettuce and Tomato and Shepard's Pie. Yep, a real mix, but when you have cravings, you have cravings.

We didn't have starters purposely so we could choose to indulge on dessert, and best believe we didn't share! Instead the table was packed with Strawberry Shortcake Sundaes, Chocolate Bombs and Dark Treacle Charts. Each one was delicious and went down a treat.

So, if you're after a nice little afternoon lunch spot, or maybe a more sophisticated dinner, it's definitely worth remembering this little spot.
